3D Gutter illustrations

The range of projects I get to work on are cool, and I feel blessed to have such a broad range of work. From large houses to small houses, large commercial projects and small commercial projects. I have worked on furniture manufacturer ’ virtual displays, medical equipments, and this project, for gutters.

For this project, I was given a list of tree debris, like leaves, acorns, helicopters, and several other things that fall from trees. The company requested a ranch house, a bi-level house, and a two-story house. From Spring, to Summer, and Fall, to show the different seasons. The premise is, these gutters have caps to keep the debris from clogging the gutters, but let the water run freely. I hope these showed them well.

1953 Clark Street Rendering

Investing in an architectural rendering has now become normal, on most projects. From large multi-unit developments to single family small homes, like the 1953 Clark Street Rendering. It takes far more than a 2D floor plan and 2D elevations, and even more than a poorly developed rendering, rendered as a by-product of your CAD software. In today’s times, it takes someone with experience to build and render a rendering that is effective in selling a property. Even a small project, like this one, takes many hours to create, with a lot of back and forth, tweaking and testing. To get it right takes time. Building an accurate model, creating realistic colors and materials, and composing it. Put on a lot of hats and be good at all of them.

  • Professional 3D model maker

  • Keen eye for colors and materials

  • Understand art and color theory

  • Control composition

  • Even being a seasoned photographer

Wilken's Desert House Rendering

I love…love…love the Wilken’s desert house rendering. When I first received it, I knew it had its challenges, and I was prepared. I try to know how my images will look before I start, with sketches, but this one was a challenge, and I am ecstatic about how it turned out.

Sagamore Development Renderings

Sometimes people come to me with a long list of wishes and a small budget. I think it is natural to try to get more-for-less, so I don’t take offense, but my reply is usually to pair down the number of views to better meet their budget. The Sagamore Development project had more desired images, but I only did the front elevation of the single family and duplex to stay within the budget.

What a fun project with a fun client. The interior went through some iterations, but the exterior was hit out of the park on the first try.

I thought I would bring you along for the ride on the Stately Residence train. First, I build the 3D model, using the project CAD files. I post these gray scale proofs to verify that the model is accurate. Here is what a 3D gray-scale proof looks like.

Choto Townhouse Development

Rush projects I usually avoid. Could you tell me why? Because they are usually rushed for a reason. Usually they are ill prepared, sloppy and incomplete documents, and a bad idea to get involved with. Also, typically, these rush projects have a misleading deadline. I worked hard to finish a project on a certain date, but then the deadline gets extended because of new information. This happened so often, I address it in my contract.

The renderings for the Choto Townhouse Development went extremely smooth. The documents were accurate, the breif was clear, and the project deadline didn’t move.

There is a ton of work on a project like this. From the actual structures, to the site plan, and then long rendering times. With a limited time to complete a project of this size and complexity, I think I pulled it off well.

9-Miller House Rendering

Here, please find the latest renderings for the 9-Miller house. I really like the idea of a breezeway. So many houses have the garages as a focal point of a house, especially an American house, and a breezeway is a nice way to separate the two spaces.

The white washed cedar shakes and black roof, windows, and trim are also very attractive. Pool, pool house, and a large yard. What is there not to like about this house?

24th Street Homes

It has been a long haul on these. I signed them about seven months ago, with a couple of quick milestones, and a hard due date a few weeks later. They have dragged on. I understand people get busy, and it isn’t an issue. If milestones are missed and deadlines pass, I immediately take action to get things back on track. Typically, these kinds of delays end up with my client wanting things ASAP when they are ready.

18 Barnes House Rendering

House flipping is big business and often, the house flipper has a loan that accrues interest daily, from day one. If it takes months to remodel a home, it can cost many thousands in interest. Few perspective buyers will see your vision, like you do, and they will not take a risk on what a house might look like. A good rendering helps to sell the property by showing clients what it will look like.

Selway House Rendering

A lot of homes cross my desk, hundreds a year, and I like almot all of them. I called upper Minessota for about 15 years, so I am partial to the rustic home, with a lot of wood and stone. The Selway house would fit perfectly on a lake in the north woods.

Ortiz Residence Rendering

How many decisions go into a house design? I am sure thousands, and how many options do you have? Colors alone have to be exhausting, and it has to cause a lot of anxiety. How will it look? Will I have to live with something I don’t like? The anxiety has to keep people up at night, at least it would me.

The Ortiz Residence Rendering is to solve many of those questions. I don’t know how people make thousands of decisions based on hunches? The investment in a high-quality rendering is well worth it, if you want to sleep well at night during the design process.

It looks fantastic, you did an amazing job! Thank you for everything.

42A Apaucuck Point Rendering

It has been a while since I have posted. Why? The past two months have been nothing but large NDA projects, so not only were they large slow-moving projects, because of the NDS, I couldn’t share if I wanted.

The 42A Apaucuck Point can be shared, so enjoy!

Typically, designs change once the designer sees their structure in 3D. The 42A Apaucuck Point Rendering changed a lot after the designer saw the initial gray-scale model. I mean, almost everything. The envelope stayed the same, but not one window or door stayed where it was originally located. Minor changes are normal and expected, and I usually wave those fees, but I quoted changes like the ones here per hour to make. I see it as value added, since the design is better.

Remembering Why...

Remembering Why...

First, I would like to congratulate all the 2023 graduates. This year is big for the Parker family, since my youngest daughter, Emma, graduated from High School with a 3.9 GPA. In the Fall she is off to Wyoming to Equine Veterinarian School. I am so proud of her.

To start this newsletter off, you have to know two things about me. One, I started illustrating buildings to help people understand their 2d drawings. While I was in Jr. high-school, my parents had some plans drawn up for their dream home. Everything looked great on paper (2D), but not so much after they built the house. I always loved drawing, I worked for a builder during high-school, so I would render proposed designs for my boss’s projects. I didn’t want others to experience what my parents had to experience.

Second, which will make sense shortly, is I am a huge Elvis fan and have been since grade school. When the internet became a thing, I gained access to so much more material than I had available to me in the school and public libraries. One thing that fascinated me was Graceland, Elvis’s mansion in Memphis, TN. I could visit Graceland as an adult, and it was a childhood dream that I could fulfill several times. Everything but the upstairs. Now, you can see floor plans on the internet of the entire house, and I have been looking at those for 40+ years. I thought I understood the upstairs, but not until today do I understand the space.

There is a YouTuber called The SpyGuy, and he does Elvis videos. Today, he walked us through a home built from those Graceland internet floor plans. If you don’t know, only the mansion’s curator and close family members may go upstairs at Graceland, which is exactly how Elvis left it in 1977. There are very few photos, and with the internet floor plans, you can kind of make things out, or I thought. I now know what the upstairs of Graceland looks like after watching today's YouTube. Looking at floor plans for 40 years, and I understand more today after 1/2 hour of seeing the space in 3D.

I know why I do what I do, but today was a reminder of the importance of what I do. People need to see things in a way that they can understand. You can’t understand a complex shape in 2 dimensions, no matter how long you stare at it. Architectural renderings must match the quality of the motion picture industry standards to be successfull with the new technology, like Apple's Vision Pro. I look forward to what is to come and I want to be on the cutting edge. Let's allow the home owner, or investors to see and get excited about their project, like never before!

Parmer Ranch Community Center Renderings

What a great-looking park for families, and what a great way to present the potential of the space; other than an architectural rendering!

There is a lot going on here, with a lot of detail. From swings, to an enormous pool, exercise room, great room, basketball and tennis court. I can imagine the whole town being built around this park, and it being a huge part of the town’s activities.

Really, what more do you need? I can honestly say, every house I owned, I used less than half of the space. This year is a new chapter in my book and I’ll become an empty nester. A 1000 square foot house would serve me well, and this one checks all the boxes.

Photorealistic renderings have become the go-to tool for real estate. What better way to pre-sale something than pre-visualizations? Most people are visual, hence the 100’s of ads we see every day. Most things we ignore, only the special eye-candy stays in our memory. There are so many bad renderings out there, so please invest properly in some good eye-candy, so you can get your clients’ property sold.

Also, what a great way to study colors and materials. This client wanted black windows and black trim until he saw it. Studying color options on the computer is less expensive than repainting a house.
