Merry Christmas 2021
The significance of these images is epic. I moved here (upper Minnesota) from Chicago in 2004, got a job with a local design firm, and after 11+ years, was laid off due to the housing crash of 2008. Now, I took pride in being one of the last people to be laid off in 2015, but it was still a life-turning event. I have worked since I was 15, and before then, with my father growing up. Having said that being out of work for the first time was a big deal. So I got my box, packed it up, and walked out of my job (just like you see on TV). I got in my car, a little numb, and on my drive home, my phone rang. The call was from a design firm in the UK, who saw some of my work online and wanted me to take on one of their projects. I did nothing to initiate this; remember, I was gainfully employed with the same firm for over a decade. Before that, all my jobs were long-term; I had no reason to be looking for work. Needless to say, I hit the freelance market running before I even got home, and miraculously, the phone hasn't stopped ringing, 7 years later. So I don't say miraculously lightheartedly... it was a God moment. I mean, on my way home from being laid off after 20+ years of continuous employment in the same field. How else can you explain that phone call from someone across the globe who couldn't have known my situation?
This all happened 7 years ago this week, which, yes, is weeks before Christmas. I say this was my Christmas miracle.
May the true spirit of Christmas shine in your heart and light your path.

Andy Albrecht House Rendering
The Andy Albrecht House Rendering will be a gift from husband to wife. This is their dream home, which is being designed for them. The architect’s client reached out to me to illustrate the house to frame it as a gift for his wife. What a great idea.

Black Oak Modern House Rendering
Many of the modern homes I render are nice, but not my cup of tea. The Black Oak Modern House Rendering is something I really like. I kind of wish more rooms were requested to render since so many rooms are so nice. For now, I rendered the front of the house, the back of the house, the great room, and the kitchen. Hopefully, they’ll return for more rooms.

86 Mayo House Rendering
Such a cute little house. 86 Mayo is considered a small project, however, not without its challenges. I back up my backups to an extra hard drive, an external drive, and in the cloud. However, thanks to a glitch in my software, I lost my work on this one. The project was done, but my client came back with a request outside of the scope. I always tell potential clients that cheap always comes out expensive. If you go with a cheap architectural illustrator, and times get rough, they’ll disappear and ghost you. Although I had to start over, I delivered the project to my client with her change, with no initial fees. I take pride in taking care of my clients, even if it means starting over on a project, like on the 86 Mayo House Rendering.

Grove 2095 House Rendering
A lot of house renderings come through my desk. Most are nice, but some, like Grove 2095, are outstanding. From the weathered brick to the house symmetry, it is all nice. I really enjoy doing rustic homes. They are generally more complicated, with organic and natural materials, but the hard work always pays off.

806 Wisconsin Street Renderings
Wisconsin is one of my favorite states. I have had family members live in Wisconsin, and whenever I go back home to Chicago, we drive through Wisconsin. Wisconsin is a beautiful state, and the 806 Wisconsin Street house is lovely. The tiny house in the back is a neat feature. I suppose they call this a mother-in-law suite.

86 Mayo Road House Rendering
What a pleasure to do this architectural rendering. I have been working on massive projects sprinkled with these single houses, which is a welcome break. Don’t get me wrong, they still take a lot of work, but one house, with one view, is a treat.
Do you have a house to be rendered? Please, reach out to me and get on my schedule.

Elliott Home Renderings
Buying a new home is exciting. I have purchased three homes, one being new construction. I wish I had a good gallery of homes to choose from like Elliott Homes is providing their customers. When I had my home built it was based on a set of 2d plans. Had the builder invested in some good quality renderings, I think I might have made different choices.
My parent had my childhood house designed by a local architect. The 2d drawings looked great and were approves. Once built, so many things were not as expected. Again, a rendering would have avoided these costly design bloopers. The experience of seeing my parents go through this process, and my childhood love of drawing, is what got me started in the architectural illustration business.

Longview Modern Farmhouse Rendering
I am happy to present the Longview modern farmhouse rendering. It is nice to see an American house without a garage door off of the front.

Client Quote
“I want to tell you that having the rendering done was the best decision ever! And this is in spite of not having a high definition finished product (my fault, I do need to make the final choices on the house color). People are in awe when they see the picture, they actually think it is the real thing. There is not one day of the week that I look back at your design for reference, to help me choose trim and color for the outside”. - Johanne Ferguson
